WORLDWIDE
JAM PARKOUR WORKSHOP
Liverpool 5th November 2006
Worldwide
JAM's Street Team travelled to Liverpool for the next leg
in the PK Workshop program. At the last minute Andi, who was
recovering from a recent illness, jumped aboard a Ryan Air
flight to make the gig.
Coaching staff included: Andi, Jason Matten, Daniel Ilabaca
and Martin Tucker (who also braved a stomach bug...thanks
Martin).

The workshop started with a breifing from Jason. Simple but
vital information was relayed ie: where the fire escapes were,
what to do and who to go to if anyone sustained an injury.
Elementary stuff it might be, but WJ doesn't take student
safety lightly.

Like previous WJ workshops, student numbers were restricted
to small managable groups. So while the sessions are relatively
short, students had far greater access to invididual attention
from the coaches. Subsequently the workshops are pretty itensive
and enable students to learn proper parkour technique faster.
Next up was a short history lesson from Andi about parkour,
where and how it started. A reminder that David Belle inspired
modern parkour.
Then
onto the action: Martin kicked off the proceedings with a
great warm up session. Did anyone master those alternate shoulder
roles???
Students
were then split into work stations. Daniel concentrated on
his spatial awareness improvisation skills set. Andi took
on the armjump tuts, and both Martin and Jason developed lung
busting courses that utilised much of the sensational Park
Road Gymnastics Centres aparatus.
