WORLDWIDE JAM PARKOUR WORKSHOPS

Parkour workshops form the backbone of Worldwide JAM’s ongoing education strategy teaching the principles and fundamentals to a growing community starved of related information and events.

They enable Worldwide JAM to showcase the life-changing virtues of Parkour such as health, fitness, self-confidence and camaraderie to local communities, authorities and the media alike.

“It seems to me that these sessions are exactly what is required to allow our youth to enjoy the sport in a safe environment, with instructors who can help them and ensure it is done properly”
WORLDWIDE JAM ARE WORKING WITH:

Lincoln Youth Services • Lincoln Sports Outreach • Active Schools Scotland • Waverley Borough Council • Guildford Borough Council • Liverpool City Council • Liverpool Culture Company • Spelthorne Council • Woking Council • University of Surrey • Broxbourne Council • Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex • SHARP Youth Sports • Childwall Youth Centre • Bromley Youth Services • Medway Council • Eastleigh Council • Richmond Youth Club......just to name a few.

READ WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT WORLDWIDE JAM PARKOUR WORKSHOPS:

Without doubt Parkour is the coolest way for young people to get fit and stay healthy. It’s a fitness regime designed by young people for young people.

With so much media attention directed to our modern youth relating to obesity, apathy and antisocial behaviour, Parkour provides a stimulating alternative to mainstream sports.

And because no specific equipment is required other than a decent pair of sneakers, the financial outlay to get involved is negligible.

“This discipline has connected my son to skill acquisition, self discipline, positive mental attitude and a particularly 'cool' social group. I am involved in the fitness and martial arts industry and see Parkour as the most exciting and vibrant activity to hit our communities in years”

Here’s some of the messages about the Parkour Workshops left by students on the Worldwide JAM Website Forums:

“The workshop really helped boost my confidence and develop things for me, and now I have been re-introduced to parkour, and I am really buzzin' from it”
.
“It was IMMENSE! Such an inspiring session. Best 2 hours of training in my life... seriously. A big thanks to all the guys for putting it on and the training. Was well worth it”.

“I'm not going to write an essay but...everyone who hasn't been to a workshop yet should go NOW!

To enable students to receive a higher level of personal attention from our coaches, workshops are divided into two sessions with a maximum of 40 students per session. By restricting the number of students, greater levels of supervision are able to be maintained, especially with those new to the sport.

Worldwide JAM workshops do not only focus on the basic fundamentals of Parkour, students are also enter a personal training program that includes, stretching, strength and stamina training, diet / nutrition and spatial awareness exercise. The workshops are a complete mind and body experience.

Each workshop session begins with a full briefing from the Parkour Coaches. Fire escapes, toilets, first aid stations, where to put your personal possessions, are all pointed out. Students are also given clear instructions about the objectives of the sessions.

“I was so impressed with the attitude of the instructors, I felt I had to go and complement them, at the end of the session. The emphasis was always equally on technique and safety as well as fun”

Basic equipment requirements for Parkour Workshops are no different to apparatus normally found in school sports halls. Our coaches are experts in adapting to any environment and creating an exciting, challenging Parkour course with minimal equipment. Each piece of apparatus however is checked before and after the workshop session and centre managers informed if any equipment is hazardous.
