About Parkour
Parkour
is the art of traversing a series of obstacles in one continuous,
graceful motion. The magnitude and technicality of a move
are of secondary importance to the ultimate objective:
Fluidity of Execution
Parkour
first came to major prominence in 2003 with the screening
of director Mike Christies documentary Jump
London (Channel 4, U.K.) The film has been widely
credited as the catalyst that inspired the global movement.

To
many, Parkour is an extreme sport. To others its a discipline
more comparable to martial arts. Some believe its an
art form akin to dance, but whatever the description, Parkour
is a sport that encapsulates human movement in its most beautiful,
dynamic and explosive form.
There has been much media attention in recent times about
the high levels of apathy and obesity in our modern youth.
Parkour, however, provides a stimulating platform that promotes
personal fitness, inner growth and healthy living. It encompasses
diet, training, discipline and camaraderie.

Welcome to Worldwide JAM
Communities
of mind are collections of individuals who are bonded together
by natural will and a set of shared ideals.
As the name suggests Worldwide JAM is about community. A collection
of likeminded people from all walks of life who congregate
to practise their art.
What started in 2005 as a London based team of traceurs working
towards a common goal has now become an international hub
of Parkour related news and information.
From its humble beginnings Worldwide JAM is one of the
worlds leading Parkour organisations and our website visited
by people representing over 150 countries. United Kingdom
to Uzbekistan, Canada to Cambodia and Poland to Peru, Worldwide
JAM is assisting Parkour to break down geographical, religious,
political and racial boundaries.
Providing a platform for traceurs to express themselves without
restraint is one of our major objectives, another is dispelling
the misconception that Parkour is a dangerous sport to local
authorities, parents and the media alike.
Our role is as facilitator; to assist participants of Parkour
overcome initial scepticism from the local community and develop
imaginative methods to promote the substratal philosophy.
As a two way street we also liaise with the regional Parkour
population to identify specific needs that the local community
and authorities may be able to fulfil. Thus creating a valuable
stream of new opportunity.
Parkour is already booming and its now up to organisations
like Worldwide JAM, crews, individual participants and the
local authorities to work together in the development and
promotion of safe practice initiatives.
