Parkour workshops form the backbone of Worldwide JAMs
ongoing education strategy teaching the principles and
fundamentals of the discipline to a rapidly growing
global community.
Supported by local schools and colleges the workshop,
which was the third to be staged in Surrey (University
of Surrey and Guildford Spectrum), attracted 50+ students
over two, two hour sessions.
With 95% of the students being beginners, the Worldwide
JAM 'Street Team' coaches were able to tailor the training
accordingly. This was especially important for WOKING
I which was attended by students with ages ranging from
7 to 44.

Teige and Calum got the blood flowing and muscles limbered
with a 5 minute warm-up session which.
As many who have attended Worldwide JAM Parkour Workshops
in the past will know, our sessions do not concentrate
on technique alone. We are also committed to getting
people to understand how their bodies work and just
how important physical fitness contributes to developing
parkour skills. Increasing fitness and strength can
also help reduce the chances of physical injury.

Worldwide
JAM would like to take this opportunity to thank Jon
Hames from Woking Leisure Centre for giving Parkour
and Worldwide JAM a new base for its Surrey Workshops.
In essence Parkour can be seen as a fitness regime designed
for young people by young people. Every month the global
parkour population is growing by approximately 10% and
having safe places to train and teach parkour is absolutely
crucial. Its great to see venues like Woking Leisure
getting behind the workshops and the young people in
the region.
